DRIERS
CALCIUM OCTOATE - 4, 5, 10 %
Product Description: Calcium 10 is a drier for coating systems. Calcium functions to improve the drying characteristics at low temperatures and the resistance to wrinkling as a result of high levels of cobalt. It is considered as an auxiliary drier used most often in combination with Lead, Zirconium and/or Cobalt driers.
Application:The normal use of level range for is: 1.0-4.0% calculated on resin solids This dose can be considered as a guideline. The optimum combination and concentrations will depend on the total formulation characteristics.
COBALT OCTOATE - 6, 8, 10, 12 %
Product Description: An auxiliary siccative produced in different Cobalt concentrations as 6%, 8%, 10%, 12%. A strong oxidizing catalyst for drying oils. The most active surface drier.
Application: Miscible with organic solvents and oils. Suitable to be used as drier with oily paints, as accelerator with polyester resins and as adhesive with rubber to metal. Applied together with other drier metals.
Usage & Amount: Recommended usage amount is between 0,1% – 2% based on solid content. Used together with Lead. Also used with Zirconium and Calcium to improve surface drying, in order to provide environment friendly systems.
ZIRCONIUM OCTOATE - 6, 12, 18, 24 %
Application: Miscible with organic solvents and oils. Zirconium Octoate siccatives particularly recommended in order to prevent ecologic disadvantages of Lead driers.
Usage & Amount: Zirconium Octoate is generally used with Cobalt siccatives in order to obtain a hard and
durable film layer. Suitable to be used instead of Lead driers. Recommended amount is 75% of Lead Octoate.
LEAD OCTOATE - 24, 30, 32, 36 %
Product Description: Lead promotes thorough polymerization of the film, catalyzing the uniform drying of the surface and inside of it. In addition, Lead improves film’s flexibility and its resistance to water and salt at the same time. Lead soaps are always combined with Cobalt and/or Manganese together with small amounts of Calcium drier.
Using Amount: The normal use of level range for is: 0.08-0.6% calculated on resin solids This dosage can be considered as a guideline. The optimum combination and concentrations will depend on the total formulation characteristics.
ZINC OCTOATE - 8, 10, 12, 16, 18 %
Description: An auxiliary siccative produced in different Zinc concentrations as 6%, 8%, 10%, 12%, 16%
Application: Miscible with organic solvents and oils. Zinc Octoate is an effective wetting and shining agent. Suitable to use with other siccatives.
Usage & Amount: It is recommended usage amount is between 0,03% – 0,2% based on solid content. Zinc Octoate fairly improves.drying performance of other driers with the synergy it reveals.
MANGANESE OCTOATE - 10%
Application: Miscible with organic solvents and oils. Suitable to be used instead of Cobalt driers with less drying feature. Recommended to use instead of Cobalt Octoate in dark and black colored paints.
Usage & Amount: It is recommended usage amount is between 0,01% – 4% based on solid content. In general,
recommended to use together with Lead and Calcium siccatives.
MIXED DRIERS - Stabilized ready to use mixed dirers
Product Description: Ready-to-use lead-based blend of metals suitable for use in a wide range of decorative paint systems. Mixed driers characterized by giving lighter colors in clear varnishes and white based enamels. Mixed driers is a single addition pre-blend drier system dissolved in mineral spirit. The prestabilized mixed drier can eliminate problems associated with coatings such as gelling or instability resulting in degradation of drying performance. Mixed driers offers also a cost benefit in addition to its ease of use and reduction of stock levels.
Using Amount: The normal use level range for MORDRY® 390 – as supplied- is between2% and 8% calculated on resin solids. This dose can be considered as a guideline. The optimum combination and concentrations will depend on the total formulation characteristics.
